The Button Box ~ I have had this in mind ever since I painted all the spools of thread. Funny how other odd items get tossed into the button box over time . . . see how many non-button items you can find! As far as buttons go, there are glass buttons, plastic buttons, bakelite buttons, brass buttons, round buttons, square buttons, oval buttons, silver buttons, wooden buttons, coat buttons, mother-of-pear buttons, shank buttons, fancy buttons, and plain buttons. As my mother used to say, "you can't always be the shiniest button in the box." I know this would not be everyone's desire to paint such a jumble, but I needed to slow down. . . and what better way than to take my time paying homage to these cast-a-ways from the past.

Very pleased that The Button Box has been juried into Realism on the Hudson, a small works show and sale at The Howland Cultural Center, Beacon, New York, in the heart of the Hudson River Valley. The exhibition will run March 2nd through April 14th. Sincere thanks to the American Artists Professional League and the jurors.
