The Tarnished Collection

Tarnished is defined as: to lose value, to ruin, to damage or to detract from good quality.

I like the patina on the older items I choose to paint. For me, it adds to the value showing that the item has history, has been used. I remember purchasing an older piece at a second hand shop and the woman working there said that she could polish it up if I'd wait a few minutes. I never said said "no" so fast in my life! The age to an item is part of its appeal, part of the mysterious attraction. And even if the item is tarnished from lack of care, it is still a thing of beauty.

The Robot Series

For some reason I am drawn to creating robots, probably having a very young grandson might have something to do with it. Not traditional Still Life subjects, but I'm using traditional oil painting methods. I enjoy painting rust, patina, and metal. I try to give one an occupation and add the various details required for the occupation.

Little Gems

There is always the need in me to experiment and try new things with oil paint. I'm a life long learner enjoying the journey.

Landscapes

Loving those hikes in and around Donner Lake where we have our cabin. There are some amazing vistas in the Sierra Nevadas near Truckee, California. Now that the cabin's re-build is complete I hope to be out there more often. You can find the story of our cabin through this link:
