1940s green - the color of the cupboards on the farmhouse back porch. Worn, weathered, creaky, and very green. I have an old mechanics desk from the same era in the studio which is the same green. The drawers are for paints and I keep the glass palette on top - my taboret, quite vintage. I've been reorganizing the studio space lately and was finally able to walk around to the backside of this desk - believe me it is far to heavy to ever move. On the backside I had completely forgotten that there was a cupboard door, sort of a secret cubby back there. I took the door off (temporarily) in order to paint this amazing green. The branch was picked up on a hike a long time ago, I have no idea what it really is, but the colors were singing to me. Simply a cupboard door I've had all along but had forgotten about.
Back Porch Cupboards was inspired by old cupboard panel doors which were a recent "find". These works are custom framed.
