Mom always saved string. You never knew when you'd need some. Several years ago I read Donald Hall's book STRING TOO SHORT TO BE SAVED. It was the depression era and his mother saved string. She saved string in all lengths and kept them in an old cigar box. She labeled the box: string too short to be saved. Each piece was not long enough for use, but if ends were tied together it might be of some use to someone someday. I thought of that when I pulled out this ball of string. Here's to the mothers who saved things.
