Such delicate colors on these Garden Roses. Inspired by a public domain work painted in 1890 by Abbott Handerson Thayer. The original is in the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, D.C. Thayer was born in Boston, Massachusetts. At the age of 13 his family moved to Brooklyn, New York, where Thayer became a leader in the New York art world after studying in Paris. He died in 1921 at his home in Dublin, New Hampshire. While mine may not look like Thayer's Roses, it was the inspiration.

Thank you to the BoldBrush Painting Competition for choosing Garden Roses as one of the FAV15 - it is included in the jury's favorite 15% of the December 2023 entries.
