Oil on Archival Linen Panel 14 x 11 $1,545.00 USD Sold
A Day at Leisure, Mastercopy from the public domain work of Alfred Parsons, 1847-1920, titled the River at Bledsoe. The urge to create a master copy hits me every once in a while and am especially grateful when museums offer a download of public domain work in the original size. So many wonderful paintings can be studied this way.
I was smitten with this painting choosing to paint only the center portion of the original which is a vast landscape. The lead-in lines of the chickens pecking on the ground is something you don't come across very often!
Alfred Parsons was an English artist well known for his landscapes and botanical illustrations and was also a dedicated gardener. He also designed significant gardens in England and Scotland. You can view the original painting, The Ouse at Bledsoe in the Dallas Museum of Art and also view it digitally here: Alfred Parsons It is well worth viewing the original painting in its entirety.
